Kleenout is great for controlling odors in all institutional drains and plaster traps.
Plaster trap installations are typically found in a hospital's orthotics and prosthetics department, veterinary practices, dental practices, laboratories and home or professional art studios where clay or plaster is being used. Wherever there are sediments being flushed down, a plaster trap is hopefully installed correctly to avoid serious plumbing problems.
Kleenout can be safely used on all commercial plaster traps and its citrus-based ingredients are environmentally safe.
What Kleenout Is Designed to Do
KKleenout is a high-alkaline cleaning and disinfecting formulation developed to address the real conditions inside traps and drainage systems, not just surface odors.
It works by chemically breaking down the organic residues that accumulate on internal surfaces—materials such as biofilm, fats, proteins, and waste-derived sludge that contribute to odor, hygiene issues, and restricted flow over time.
Rather than masking smells, Kleenout targets the source.
How It Controls Odors
Odors in plaster traps and similar systems are primarily caused by microbial activity and decomposing organic matter. Kleenout reduces odors through the following mechanisms:
- Residue breakdown: Alkaline cleaning action loosens and removes odor-producing buildup from trap walls.
- Microbial reduction: Reduces odor-causing bacteria and limits regrowth between cleanings.
- Residual freshness: A citrus component provides a clean scent while contributing to the removal of organic soils.
- Suitable for Gleco plaster traps and similar high-quality systems.
- Controls odors in plaster traps.
- Non-corrosive and non-caustic.
- Safe for use on metals and drains.
- Helps reduce larvae, flies, and insects in drains.
- Compatible with amalgam separators.
For Treating Plaster Traps
5 Gal Traps
Pour 20 oz. (0.6 L) into the trap weekly.
(A 4L Jug of Kleenout will last you 1.4 months)
2 Gal Traps
Pour 8.5 oz. (250 mL) into the trap weekly.
(A 4L Jug of Kleenout will last you 4 months)
For Treating Drain Odors
Add about 1 liter to the main drain about once a week. (We recommend the Brodi Automated Pump)
Expected Shelf Life
- 2–3 years unopened
- ~12–24 months once opened, if:
- Stored cool
- Container tightly closed
- Not contaminated with other chemicals
